The Central Administration of Statistics (CAS) Lebanon released the National Accounts estimates for the year 2020 with a revision of previous years estimates.

The methodology used is based on the System of National Accounts (SNA) 2008.

Changes to the methods of estimating GDP in 2020

Quarterly National Accounts 2020

CAS has recently switched from an annual system to a new quarterly system of national accounts. The sources and methods used to compile quarterly estimates of GDP are very similar to those used in the former annual system. The difference is that annual data sources may not be available for some months after the end of the year. Until then, some temporary quarterly indicators or projections are used. When the annual data becomes available, the quarterly estimates are revised to align with the annual ones so that, when the four quarters are added up, they result in the same annual numbers.

The Central Administration of Statistics (CAS) in Lebanon partnered with the International Labour Organization (ILO), to implement the follow-up Labour Force Survey (LFS) 2022. The follow-up LFS was conducted by CAS in January 2022 and both financial and technical assistance were provided by the ILO Regional Office for Arab States.

إطلاق العمل بالمسح العنقودي متعدد المؤشرات 2023 (MICS)

 After its suspension due to Covid-19 pandemic, The Central Administration of Statistics (CAS) and UNICEF Lebanon announced today the start of the 2023 Lebanon Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS). The MICS is the largest source of high quality data on children and women worldwide. The evidence generated will help the government of Lebanon and the international community assess the impact of the deteriorating situation in the country and contribute in shaping policies to improve the lives of the most vulnerable children, women and communities in Lebanon. With the internationally comparable data, the survey will monitor, for the first time, Lebanon’s progress towards achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.

تم توقيع مذكرة تفاهم بين إدارة الإحصاء المركزي واليونيسف لبدء المسح العنقودي متعدد المؤشرات في لبنان لعام 2023. يشكل المسح العنقودي متعدد المؤشرات أحد أكبر مصادر المعلومات الإحصائية في العالم لتقييم صحة الأطفال والنساء. وستساهم المعلومات التي سيتم جمعها، بدعم الحكومة اللبنانية لسد الثغرات في البيانات بهدف رصد حالة التنمية البشرية بشكلٍ عام، مع التركيز على وضع الأطفال والنساء بشكل خاص. وللمرة الاولى سيتم ، من خلال المؤشرات الدولية ، رصد تقدم لبنان المحرز نحو تحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة
