Overview

On 16 March 2022, the Central Administration of Statistics (CAS), in partnership with the World Bank, hosted at its premises the launch of Lebanon's first official Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI).

Developed using data from the nationally representative Labour Force and Household Living Conditions Survey 2018–2019, the MPI complements monetary poverty measures by assessing non-monetary deprivations through 19 indicators across five dimensions: education, health, financial security and well-being, basic infrastructure, and living standards.

During the event, CAS and World Bank representatives presented the methodology and key findings of the index, including the incidence and intensity of multidimensional poverty across Lebanon.
